The Ultra-Slim Energy-Saving 12W FZLED Downlights with Light Guide Technology

FZLED, the leading maker of LED lighting products, today launched a new range of 12-Watt LED downlights featuring cutting-edge light guide technology. The energy-efficient, low-maintenance FZL-DL06-00 series is a simple money-saving replacement for any older 6-inch diameter downlight.

The innovative FZL-DL06-00 series introduces light guides to direct part of the LED light output to the sides. This creates a far more pleasant, balanced and gentle illumination than competing downlights, but without compromising coverage or brightness.

Samsung Launches New 10W Light Bulb with 3000K and 550lm

In regard to the replacement for 40W incandescent light bulbs, consumers can select from not only four.4W LED light bulbs but also 10W LED light bulb manufactured by Samsung. Samsungs 10W LED light bulb with E27 socket can adequately replace 40W incandescent light bulbs, but falls short compared to the luminosity of 60W incandescent light bulbs.

This new product, named Samsung LED A19, can accomplish a 75% energy conversion rate with a lifespan of 30 thousand hours, a beam angle of 180 degree, a 550lm luminous flux and a 3000K color temperature (warm white light).

Cornish Church to Use LED Technology

The church wants to invest £10,000 in LED lighting system
A project to replace expensive spotlights with cheaper LED bulbs could help a Cornish church dramatically reduce its electricity bill.

Camborne Parish Church wants to invest £10,000 in a new lighting system to save money in the long term.

After reinstating the outside lighting with gas lamp replicas, Rector Mike Firbank is turning his attention to the inside of the building.

Alternative Light Bulbs Improving

The light bulb aisle isn't as simple as it used to be. From CFLs to LEDs to new halogen incandescents, there are a lot of choices. With new federal regulations about to take effect, it's a good time to consider your lighting options.

New federal rules on energy efficiency take effect in January and start the official phase out of standard incandescent light bulbs. There's no need to hoard them, though. The most popular 60-watt size can be made until 2014. In the meantime, the good news is that alternatives are improving.

LED technology benefits

LONG LIFETIME & LUMEN MAINTENANCE
The led lamps maintain over 70% of their original luminous flux at 50,000 hours — long after conventional outdoor light sources have burned out.  Traditional light sources fail catastrophically due to electrodes which weaken or become contaminated and eventually fail, causing the lamp to stop working.
LEDs rarely fail catastrophically: Light output gradually decreases over operating time, end of life is to be when light output reaches 70% of initial value and lifetime highly dependent on temperature (ambient and device as well as operating current.

Halogen Powered Standard Light Bulbs

Having replaced your mains GU10 & 12v dichroic MR16 halogen spotlights with equivalent 12v LED spotlight substitutes, think about installing halogen replacement bulbs for those common or garden GLS light bulbs you have fitted in standard & ceiling lamps usually anything that makes use of some kind of lampshade & throws light in all directions.

Halogen capsules packaged inside standard light bulb casings have been around for some time, but were three times something of a speciality.

The Limitations of Halogen and LED Spot Lights

While it is straightforward to replace halogen spotlights used as down lighters and for display with equivalent 12v LED spotlights since the purpose of the application is to emit bright directional light which LED lamps are intrinsically best at doing, it is not presently so simple to replace ordinary incandescent light bulbs with equivalent LED light bulbs.

The reason is the exact same reason that 12v LED spotlights make a nice replacement for halogen spotlights the light is focused than the diffuse scattered illumination normally gets with regular GLS (General Lighting Service) lamps.

Energy Saving LED Home Lighting

A straightforward guide to understanding, purchasing, installing & benefiting from energy saving LED home lighting.

Domestic LED lighting is still seen as something of a novelty & plenty of people don't understand whats involved, where to make use of energy saving LED lighting, how to make use of domestic LED lights or what the issues are regarding installing low energy light bulbs.

It is hard to see how a domestic LED replacement light that costs plenty of times over the ordinary light bulbs you have always bought before could possibly save you money. But think it will save a fortune & sooner than you might think.

Led Energy Savings Calculator

Here I will present a few Led energy saving calculator so you can see what savings will you have on your led lighting instalations:
Potential savings when replacing halogen lighting with led lighting from led-solutions.co.uk. You find their led cost savings calculator here.

If you want to play around with the figures yourself you can try the Cree Savings Calculator.

Bear In Mind When Installing LED Lights

When fitting LED lighting consider that it is usually very bright but also very focused, in other words the light tends to illuminate a confined area which can lead to a spotted effect if you are not cautious.

The simplest solutions are to:
a) think about the beam angle of the LED bulb you are fitting (a wider angle will spread the light out and avoid spotting) and
b) install more lights but with a lower brightness level and/or softer color.
This last solution is often the best if your spotlights are fitted on a track or some other non recessed fitting. It is a lovely excuse to update the room a bit and frankly the cost involved is trivial compared to what it will continue to cost you by using halogen spotlights.

About LED Kitchen Lighting

LED Home Lighting and Kitchen Lighting Design

All kitchens are to a great extent a triumph of illusion. Behind the nicely introduced cabinet fronts and counter tops are the utilitarian aspects (pots and pans, tin and jars, etc) and behind those are usually bare plaster and concrete with cables and pipes jogging around. It is whats visible, what is on show and the way it seems that counts for everything, and it ought to be obvious that how something looks has an awful lot to do with the way it is lit.

Modern LED home lighting is well suited to most kitchen lighting applications. Kitchen lighting design usually requires neat, crisp light with nice CRI (Color Rendering Index) characteristics it is always a nice suggestion when preparing food that you can clearly see what you are doing and what condition it is in.
